Description
The Ficus benjamina, commonly known as the weeping fig, is a popular ornamental houseplant prized for its elegant, arching branches and glossy, teardrop-shaped leaves. Interestingly, the Ficus benjamina is a natural air purifier, capable of removing toxins like formaldehyde and benzene from the air.
It has a unique survival trait called “turgor movement,” where its leaves may drop dramatically in response to changes in light, temperature, or humidity, only to recover once conditions stabilize. These plants require bright indirect light and won’t do well in low light areas.
