Description

The String of Turtles, scientifically known as Peperomia Prostrata, is a captivating plant that enchants with its unique appearance and delicate beauty. This trailing succulent is a member of the Peperomia family and has gained popularity among plant enthusiasts around the world.

The String of Turtles derives its name from its captivating foliage, which resembles a string of tiny turtles. The leaves, varying in shades of green, are shaped like miniature turtle shells, featuring intricate patterns and markings that mimic the reptile’s distinctive scutes. The edges of the leaves are often adorned with hues of silver or creamy white, adding to its overall charm.

Here are some basic care instructions for this unique succulent:

  1. Lighting: Place your String of Turtles plant in bright, indirect light. It appreciates moderate to bright light conditions but should be protected from direct sunlight, which can scorch its leaves. A north or east-facing window is usually ideal
  2. Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot and other issues, so it’s important to strike a balance. Water when the soil is dry, roughly once every +- 4 weeks. Water thoroughly, ensuring the excess water drains out of the pot. Empty any water collected in the saucer to avoid waterlogged roots.
  3. Fertilisation: Feed the String of Turtles plant once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) using a balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertiliser. Avoid fertilising during the winter months when the plant’s growth slows down.
